Willow Waterhole MusicFEST: Today’s the Day!

The day is here! This is from Willow Waterhole Greenspace Conservancy:

Houston residents—mark your calendars for MusicFEST on Saturday, October 28, from 11 AM to 7 PM, southwest Houston’s Willow Waterhole Greenspace Conservancy’s 11th MusicFESt will be hosting a day filled with great music, food, and fun! This free, one-day family friendly festival promise an unforgettable experience for all ages. Free parking will be available at Westbury High School, with a shuttle bus to transport attendees the short distance to the Greenway.

Six professional bands will bring a diverse mix of musical styles, from New Orleans and Southern roots to jazz, rock ‘n’ role, funk gospel, danceable oldies, Santana favorites, blues R&B, and more. The event will also feature four school bands from local music magnet schools, showcasing the talents of young musicians.

Kids—and adults—will enjoy Halloween-themed art pieces, games with prizes, Houston’s famed art cars, and a costume contest for people and pups! Visitors can also explore community booths and discover local organizations, artisans, and business.

Some of Houston’s finest food trucks will be available throughout the day, with treats to satisfy cravings for everyone, from burgers and fries to Caribbean delights, to Cajun and Creole treats, to Hawaiian-style snow cones and more.

For those who haven’t had the pleasure of visiting Willow Waterhole Greenway, you’ll find a breathtaking oasis nestled within the heart of the city. This 291-acre, dual-use park is a network of six detention lakes, prairie, marsh, islands, native plants, wildlife, and park amenities. This unusual greenspace is designed to protect against flooding and to bring the community together for conservation, education, and recreation.

“What better way to celebrate fall and Halloween than with great music, food, and friends in a setting that has been made even more beautiful and accessible,” said Howard Sacks, MusicFEST 2023 chairman. “We hope folks will bring their blankets and lawn chairs and hang out with us all day at what promises to be our biggest and best MusicFEST yet.”
