A partial government shutdown has been averted, but the drama is far from over in Washington.
Florida Congressman Matt Gaetz made the rounds on the Sunday shows, promising to file a motion to vacate the Speakership. McCarthy told reporters this weekend that he welcomed the challenge by Gaetz, who forced McCarthy to sit through 15 votes before being elected Speaker earlier this year.
"He's going to get his wish. I don't think the adults in the room would allow America to sit atop a $33 Trill debt," Gaetz told ABC's this week.
McCarthy was on CBS' 'Face the Nation," and dared Gaetz to file the motion.
"Bring it on," McCarthy said.
As for when the motion could be filed, Gaetz wasn't specific.
"You'll be seeing it this week," Gaetz stated.
But this could be costly to Gaetz. Fox News is reporting a group of House Republicans are preparing their own motion - to expel Gaetz.
