Gov. Abbott Plans to Add Colony Ridge to Next Month's Special Session

Gov. Greg Abbott says he plans to add Colony Ridge to next month's special session.

He told iHeartRadio host Dana Loesch that subpoenas were issued for financial records of the developers, and the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality also is investigating what has turned into a large settlement of illegals, north of Houston.

"We're trying to put together as much information as possible, so I can add to the special session any issue that needs to be enforced, in terms of a new law in the state of Texas, to make sure that we're not going to have colonies like this in our state," said Abbott.

Gov. Abbott also ordered Texas DPS to patrol Colony Ridge in response to concerns that Mexican drug cartels are using the settlement as a distribution hub.

"One thing I heard is that it was a so-called 'no go zone.' And I wanted to make sure we eliminated any pre-tense of that whatsoever. So the Texas Department of Public Safety is constantly patroling this, and they told me so are the county sheriff and local constable, making sure the laws are going to be abided by."
