Juan Carlos Garcia Rodriguez was extradited back to Texas following his arrest in Louisiana for the rape and strangulation murder of 11-year old Maria Gonzalez in Pasadena.
Garcia Rodriguez, who was living in the same apartment complex as the little girl, was in the US illegally. He was arrested in El Paso earlier this year, detained for about a month, and then released to sponsors. He was given a court date but never appeared.
He was last seen at the apartment complex Monday afternoon, and investigators suspected he was being moved around and hidden by people.
Police confirmed that Gonzalez' body was found inside a plastic trash bag that was placed inside a laundry basket and concealed under a bed inside the home. Pasadena PD said they will continue to work with the Institute of Forensic Sciences, which is assisting with the analysis of multiple pieces of evidence.
