Federal Judge: Texas' Tuition Discount Encourages Illegal Immigration

As the state of Texas continues to deal with the crisis at the border, you might be shocked to know the deal that is offered to illegal immigrants from our Texas universities.

For decades, colleges in Texas have been offering and providing illegals tuition discounts. So if you cross into the U.S. illegally, you can pay less for school then a U.S. citizen.

"For over 20 years now, Texas by state law has offered in-state tuition to illegal aliens inside the state of Texas" said Brandon Waltens, managing editor with the Texas Scorecard, "Essentially a discounted rate, a state subsidized rate. A lot of people have said that this encourages illegal immigration."

That includes a Trump appointed federal judge, James Ho, who says that the tuition discounts for illegals are illegal, and against federal law. Unfortunately, Texas lawmakers have allowed it to continue.

"There's been a trend of deferring a lot of the control and power that the legislature is supposed to have over public universities" Waltens told KTRH, "And just sort of letting them run themselves, which we've seen how that ends, when you look at some of the radical ideology that's being taught, and the faculty, etc."

Democrat judges are trying to keep the policy in place.

Meanwhile, a recent poll of Republican voters in Texas found that 75% are in favor of eliminating in-state tuitions for illegal immigrants.
