AARP says there are important tips for caregivers. Here is the press release:
More than 48 million Americans help take care of parents, spouses, grandparents, and other adult loved ones so they can live independently as long as possible. A recent AARP report found Texas caregivers provide $41 billion in unpaid care each year. They help with medical care, meals, bathing and dressing, finances, groceries, transportation and more. Many caregivers also pay for expenses out of their own pockets and reduce their work hours or leave their jobs to care for loved ones.
A recent AARP survey found 70% of voters would be more likely to support a candidate who backs proposals to support family caregivers. The White House recently signed an Executive Order that improves access to home-based care for veterans, enhances job quality for long-term care workers and offers more support to those caring for loved ones with dementia. But there’s still more to be done.
