Do Republican Primary Candidates Have An Identity Crisis?

With former president Donald Trump continuing to hold a wide lead in the GOP polls, the rest of the Republicans are having a bit of an identity crisis.

"I think they are" said Matt Kane, political and writer with American Thinker, "This isn't a typical primary cycle, it's unique in that Trump does have an incumbency advantage. He is someone who already did the job, and it's pretty rare that's the case. They already have Trump as the case study of doing a good job."

And then there is also the job of trying to stand out, while not getting into a back and forth, with Trump.

"To sort of, differentiate yourself from Trump as a Republican candidate without attacking him, and without talking about the same things that he's already about and dominating the headlines with" Kane told KTRH, "I'd say you probably have to get creative, and think about something that isn't currently on his radar and go from there. Very hard task."

We should learn a lot more about the rest of the Republicans during the first GOP primary debate, which is set for next month in Milwaukee. Minus, Donald Trump.
