FBI: Gun Background Checks Surpass 1M for 47th Consecutive Month

Americans continue to exercise their Second Amendment right, with the FBI reporting more than one million firearm background checks for a record 47th consecutive month.

Mark Oliva at the National Shooting Sports Foundation calls it proof that everyday average Americans see through the left's constant rhetoric of gun control.

"We see crime going unchecked. We see politicians who are unwilling to enforce the laws. We see district attorneys and attorneys general that are refusing to lock up criminals and letting them out with light sentences or dismissing the charges," he says.

Oliva also credits the George Floyd riots of 2020 for millions more Americans exercising their right to bear arms.

"Fifty-three percent increase of African-Americans. Forty-seven percent increase of Hispanic-Americans and 43-percent increase of Asian-Americans buying guns," he says. "Forty percent of the people buying guns during the surge were first-time gun buyers."

And many of those are women.

"America's gun owner today is more reflective of the rest of society because they are the rest of society," Oliva added.
