Houston Pets Live! and Best Friends Animal Society are combining forces for a big adoption event in two weeks. Plan your life accordingly. Here's the press release:
Houston Pets Alive! and Best Friends Animal Society are working to save lives and find animals their forever homes. The organizations are coming together to host an adoption event with 20 other rescues and shelters in the greater Houston area, along with the fun of vendors, food trucks, prizes, an After Pool Pawty, and more.
Roughly 800 people are expected to stop by Lighthouse Artspace Houston and Powder Keg between 10a.m. and 3p.m., with the goal to get as many of the expected 200 animals adopted as possible. Attendees will also be able to speak with animal welfare professionals to learn more about topics such as veterinary care and dog behavior. Registration is free but required to enter and the first 500 people will receive a free swag bag of goodies.
"Animal welfare organizations collaboratively working together at the Dog Days of Summer event is crucial to helping pets across the Greater Houston area,” said Deyra Galvan, Senior Community Engagement Coordinator at Best Friends Animal Society. “The Dogs Days of Summer Adoption Palooza will bring community members and animal welfare organizations together in one place matching homeless pets in need with loving homes and increase awareness on how community members can help pets in their community in a fun and festival-like atmosphere. We hope to see many happy pet adoptions as a result of this event!"
As the animal welfare crisis in Houston continues to worsen, Houston Pets Alive! and Best Friends Animal Society are determined to make impactful change by supporting Greater Houston’s shelters and rescues to increase live outcomes, help provide essential resources, and give access to a larger platform and audience then they would otherwise have. This event is a stepping stone to more collaborative efforts to make Houston, and the United States at large, no-kill.
“Our organization is proud to be part of this collaborative effort to promote pet adoption. We believe that every animal deserves a loving home, and events like this help raise awareness of the many wonderful pets available for adoption in our community”, says Noelle Delgado, Houston Pets Alive!’s Executive Director.
Registration is free but required to enter and the first 500 people will receive a free swag bag of goodies. Full event details can be found at houstonpetsalive.org/adoptionpalooza.
