Basement Biden 2.0

President Joe Biden officially launched his re-election campaign a month ago, but has yet to hold any rallies. Just like 2020, Biden's being kept in the 'basement.'

Fox's Shannon Bream argues a basement campaign won't fly this time around, as voters continue to question whether Biden is fit for the job.

"In 2020, that was just one of those selections for the history books. We had COVID, it was a very different situation. He's now four years older, and will have to get out there and show people he physically and mentally has got what it takes to do what I think is the toughest jobs in the world," said Bream.

Trump's former press secretary Kayleigh McEnany agreed.

"If it's a referendum on Biden, he loses in a general election. So his goal will be not to make this about him, but to make it a referendum on the other side of the aisle, make it about the extremity of the Republican Party. But how do you make that case if you're sequestered away in the Oval Office?"

However, Southern Methodist University's Matthew Wilson argues that's not the case.

"If his opponent is a former president. If his opponent is Donald Trump, that negates that to some degree because then they both have a record, and people are making a comparative judgement."

Wilson says the campaign cash will be there no matter what, it's just a matter of getting Biden across the finish line again.

"A large portion of the electorate will be in his corner just because they don't want the Republican, especially if that Republican is Donald Trump," says Wilson. "So I think Biden's people feel he doesn't have to do a lot in order to further his re-election bid."
