Are Conservatives Stuck With Trump?

With Florida Governor Ron DeSantis set to officially announce his run for the presidency next week, there is a narrative out there that you have probably heard. It goes something like this...

"I love Trump, but there's no way he can win again in the 2024 general election".

Taking a look at that from both sides, we have two different 'Matt's' that have made their case.

In a piece to debunk, what he calls the 'Trump can't win in the general myth', writer Matt Kane explains in detail.

"It's really not rocket science" Kane told KTRH, "I know the airwaves are filled with so many different opinions, and to me you sort of see through it. You know they don't actually believe that, they're just trying to speak into existence, but it's pretty crazy to say this early on."

According to the latest polling numbers, it appears that Donald Trump is at a high right now, while Joe Biden is at an all-time low. Still, according to a new poll from the New York Post, Biden has a 7-pt lead over Trump.

"Look, we have a long way to go, we could be in a recession next year, and Biden is historically weak" said Republican strategist Matt Mackowiak, "There are reasons to believe that Republicans have a great chance to take the White House back, but given Trump's baggage, a lot of Republican political professionals look at his candidacy and believe he's a fairly weak general election candidate."

The polls also show that Trump has biggest lead yet over Ron DeSantis, 70% to 14%, with a long way to go until November of 2024.
