1DayHouston is TODAY!

50,000 Houston volunteers are getting together for a citywide community service initiative called “One Day Houston” today, Saturday, April 29. The event is celebrated with concerts at the Toyota Center tonight or tomorrow night, you chose. There are going to be hundreds of community service locations around the Greater Houston area. Pick your place.

Your opportunity to demonstrate the power of love in the Houston community begins with a stop at the website 1DayHouston.com. That’s a link. Click on it but read this first. The link will be available at the end again.

Love changes everything. This is about a day of loving Houston’s community and volunteering your time to help the neighborhood. You may want to distribute aid, or maybe you want to beautify the city, maybe you like to garden, maybe sports is your thing. There are a variety of outlets for you to give your love.

It starts with registering. When you click the link, scroll down to register. Click it.

When you show up you’ll get a One Day Houston t-shirt, which should be the gold standard of status symbols in Bayou City. It means you are one who stepped up, gave your time, gave your effort, and gave your love.

There will be an interactive map, and you can choose the location that works best for you. Most are churches. In each box below the map you’ll find details of location, times, and how many spaces are open. You can register for more than one person and make it a family event. Kids over six years of age are enthusiastically encouraged to attend and learn what community love is about. At hundreds of Serve Centers across Houston you’ll be able to pick the one you want to participate in, including beautification projects, homeless assistance and food drives. Together, 1DayHouston will mobilize local volunteer efforts to assign value and dignity to all communities and provide hope for the city, the future and those in need.

Now download the Love Has No Limits app on your mobile device, ios or android. It’s what you’ll use to communicate with your team.

Show up. Contribute at least three hours of your time to making Houston a little bit better to qualify for the concerts, doors open 5:30 pm and music starts at 6:30 at Toyota Center. Food and beverages will be available for purchase but do not come free with admission.

Love Has No Limits (LHNL) is an apolitical, nonpartisan collaboration infrastructure uniting spheres of influence to produce sustainable change across America. Since 2021, Love Has No Limits has activated collaborative volunteer movements of organizations across the nation. The inaugural 1DayLA event mobilized over 20,000 volunteers and faith communities to unite Southern California, empowering over 100,000 families in Los Angeles County. In April 2023, the 1DayHouston service initiative will call on community members from across the Greater Houston area to unite and demonstrate how love can change a city.
