Our Oil Reserves Are Still Depleting, And Republicans Are Demanding Answers

In addition to all of their other investigations, House Republicans are also demanding answers as to why the Biden administration opted to deplete the U.S. Strategic Petroleum Reserve last year before the midterms.

"The administration called it the 'Putin price hike', and therefore tried to use the SPR primarily for political purposes to keep prices down so they wouldn't get harmed in the midterms" said Tim Stewart, president of the U.S. Oil and Gas Association, "And that's not the proper use of it."

No, it is not. You may not know this, but the president and congress, share responsibility of the SPR, but since the Oversight Committee launched their investigation, the White House has been unresponsive.

"That's a typical Washington game that is played, when there's an opposing party in the White House vs. the Congress" Stewart told KTRH, "But in this particular case, they don't have any good answers to actually send to congress because they know that they mismanaged the policy for the past year."

With gas prices continuing to rise, the Biden administration is tapping into the SPR even more. Last week, 1.6 million were drawn.

It's worth noting, Biden has taken out more oil than all of the previous U.S. presidents combined.
