It was not too long ago that Florida Governor Ron DeSantis was given favorable coverage from the mainstream media. But those days are officially over.
This week, it has been wall to wall waiting on the possible arrest of former president Donald Trump. But in case you haven't caught it? The mainstream media has taken off their gloves with DeSantis.
"It's a badge of honor for DeSantis" said Republican strategist Matt Locke, "His actions are speaking louder than any words he could ever speak about, and in some ways I think he may even be more conservative than president Trump. He has done great things in Florida, and this is what scares the left to death."
Either way, whoever is leading the charge for Republicans is going to be a target.
"If it's Trump, if it's DeSantis, the mainstream media is going to treat each equally" Locke told KTRH, "DeSantis may be the darling now, they want to get Trump out of there because they fear him the most, but in the end the mainstream media is going to treat any Republican the same way. It's enemy #1."
And for mainstream media, priority #1 is helping the Democrats keep control.
