Things Are Get Chip-py In Washington, With The Fight Over The Debt Ceiling

As the battle in Washington continues over raising the debt ceiling, U.S. Rep. Chip Roy is trying to use the debate as an opportunity to pass his border security plan.

"I'm not afraid to play hard-ball, as everybody saw during the speaker's fight" congressman Roy said during a recent interview on our iHeart sister station in San Antonio, "But I can't just sit here and unilaterally say that I'm not going to vote for the debt ceiling, that would be dumb because then I would take away my leverage to try to negotiate something better for the American people. At some point, we're going to raise the debt ceiling, but we should damn well change things if we're going to do it."

The debt ceiling has long been used as a political tool to push through partisan agenda items. But longtime Republican strategist Bill Miller believes this will not be one of those times.

"Even though the border issue is huge and important, and of course if you are living in Texas you feel it much more acutely than you do elsewhere" Miller told KTRH, "But you can't tie the debt ceiling to one issue. Roy is going to make his position known, but I don't see any value in this."

The only value, and help for the on-going Biden border crisis, will have to come from here in Texas, via Governor Greg Abbott and Operation Lone Star. At least until we get a new president.
