Governor Greg Abbott is praising the University of Houston's fentanyl vaccine lab for their remarkable recent breakthrough.
Last month, the university announced the creation of a fentanyl vaccine that should prove useful in dealing with the opioid epidemic. Abbott met with researchers at UH this week for a tour of the lab where the vaccine was created. The governor called the new vaccine "transformative."
If the vaccine is approved, researchers hope it will keep people from overdosing on fentanyl.
