Extreme Equity: Biden Pushes Race-Based Programs

The U.S. Constitution reads "all men are created equal," but the Biden administration may want to change that to "all men are created equitable." The administration's push for equity is behind its latest race-based program, the Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA), which is "solely dedicated to...minority business enterprises." That means non-white. Which also means discrimination, according to Rick Esenberg, president of the Wisconsin Institute for Law & Liberty---which is challenging several of these race-based programs in court. "What we've seen recently from the Biden administration is an unprecedented willingness to treat people differently, based on nothing other than the color of their skin," he tells KTRH. "And that is something our Constitution simply doesn't permit."

Indeed, the administration has done this repeatedly. Last year, they established a loan forgiveness program that only applied to minority farmers, along with funds aimed at "disadvantaged" restaurant owners and homeowners. "Disadvantaged" is code for non-white, in these cases. And Vice President Kamala Harris recently caused a stir when she suggested that Hurricane Ian relief should be based on "equity" and race---comments the White House later walked back.

This all stems from the left trying to replace the Constitutional standard of equality with 'equity.' "These programs based on equity mandate racial proportionality, and the only way you get that is to treat people differently because of their race," says Esenberg.

The Supreme Court is currently considering racial quotas in college admissions, but Esenberg believes these race-based government programs could eventually end up before the high court as well. "The Supreme Court has held...the government cannot use explicit racial preferences to make up for general societal discrimination in the past," he says.

"Our Constitution mandates color blindness, our moral principles mandate that we treat people as individuals and not as members of racial groups, and we should not depart from that," he continues.
