President Biden’s Approval Rating Quickly Rises Ahead of Midterms

President Biden’s approval rating is sharply rising ahead of the midterms. A new AP-NORC poll finds support for the president is up 9 points from his summer low. In July, Biden’s approval rating was just 36%. Now it’s 45%.

Political analyst Anthony Russo says Biden’s numbers are thanks primarily to Democrats, as his approval rating remains low among Republicans. So why the sudden rise? Russo believes the rise comes at the same time gas prices are declining as well as fears about the economy. That’s why he believes the GOP will have to step it up on the campaign trail if they hope to win big in November.

“Stop playing defense and go on attack,” Russo explained. “Talk about the things that they can have control over, what will happen if we have another two years leading into the next presidential election.”

Russo also notes that Republicans still face some resistance on the abortion issue since the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v Wade.
