Paxton Facing Post-election Deposition

Attorney General Ken Paxton faces a one-hour deposition on November 28, after the election, relating to the securities fraud charge brought against him seven years ago.

Collin County District Court Judge Cynthia Wheless, the Dallas Morning News reports, handed down the decision this past week.

The Texas Attorney General is the target of several legal matters, including an FBI investigation brought on by a whistleblower among former deputies who claim he abused the office. Seven years ago, two men allege, Paxton encouraged their investment in a technology company without revealing that he would pocket a commission, and the deposition tangentially concerns that matter.

Recent polls show Paxton leading his Democratic challenger Rochelle Garza by two to three points, which is a statistical dead heat given the margin of error in polling.
