Houston runners will honor 9-11 heroes tomorrow

Houston runners will lace up their shoes and honor first responders in the 9-11 Heroes Run, taking place tomorrow at City Hall. Race director and former HPD officer Greg Fremin says they expect thousands of runners to take part in the event.

"This is the 12th year that we have hosted this event, and it has become the signature event for 9-11 ceremonies," Fremin said. "It's a community event, where first responders and members of the community come together to honor our fallen heroes."

The opening ceremony gets underway at 7:30am. The 5K race will start at 8am.

Proceeds benefit the Travis Manion Foundation. You can sign up between now and the time the race starts HERE.

In the 9/11 attacks in New York 343 firefighters were killed, along with 23 NYPD officers and dozens of emergency responders.
