Texas Trigger Law: Abortion Is Now A First Degree Felony

Today is yet another big day for the Pro-life movement in the state of Texas. The 'trigger' that was set off after the overturning of Roe vs. Wade is over, and that means abortion, as well as access to abortion, are now officially banned, even more than they already were.

"As a result of that, and the pre-Roe laws that have gone back into effect, all abortion facilities in Texas have ceased providing abortions" said Dr. Joe Pojman, executive director with Texas Alliance For Life, "This law is the last stake in the heart of the abortion industry in Texas."

And to hammer it home even further, to perform, or assist with an abortion, is now a felony, with fines starting at $100,000.

"Any medical provider will lose his or her license, including the abortion facility" Dr. Pojman told KTRH, "Doctors, nurses, pharmacists. It's a very well drafted law, and it's working already. The abortion industry has reported that all 23 abortion facilities in Texas have ceased performing abortions."

It's worth pointing out, abortions are still allowed for the very rare circumstances that the mother's life is in danger. It also does not prevent treatment for ectopic pregnancy, or miscarriage. And under no circumstances can a woman be prosecuted for abortion.
