Several Republicans plan to investigate White House chief medical adviser Dr. Anthony Fauci if they win back at least one chamber of Congress in the 2022 Midterms.
Jim Jordan and Rand Paul have voiced their desire to investigate Fauci and into the government's response to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, since Republicans been in the minority, their calls for a probe haven't gained much traction. Republican National Committeeman Robin Armstrong says it's unfortunate that only a few lawmakers are asking questions.
“It’s not a partisan issue to me at all,” Armstrong said. “It’s just a desire to get answers for what happened the last two years.”
Some in Congress want to dig deeper into how much Dr. Fauci knew about the coronavirus before the global outbreak. A few Republicans also want to ask him more about the Chinese lab in Wuhan, where some believe the virus originated.
Dr. Fauci has given House Republicans the go-ahead to investigate him if and when the time comes.
