Houston Methodist starts new tower in Texas Medical Center

Construction has begun on a new Houston Methodist Hospital tower in the Texas Medical Center, projected to feature a new and larger emergency department.

The 26-story Centennial Tower will be connected to Walter Tower, which is home to Houston Methodist’s DeBakey Heart and Vascular Center and the Houston Methodist Neurological Institute.

When finished in 2027, the new building will have nearly 400 patient beds - 175 new ones and 207 to replace those currently in Houston Methodist’s main building. The emergency department will double in size to more than 50 beds with easy ambulance access and patient drop-off areas.

An outdoor rooftop garden will be located on the 14th floor with greenery and art. A detailed look at the new building can bee seen in the video below.
