Southeast Texas is now in the cone for Hurricane Beryl, which has weakened to a Category 4 storm.
The latest guidance shows a shift to the north. But, it also shows the system weakening to a Tropical Storm in the Gulf of Mexico.
The storm has already killed at least one person in the Caribbean Windward island where it has made landfall. The National Hurricane Center says that Beryl is likely to fluctuate but will remain a major hurricane as it moves towards the central Caribbean and Jamaica.
The Prime Minister of Grenada, Dickon Mitchell, said in a news briefing that there were "widespread reports of destruction and devastation in Carriacou and Petite Martinique. In half an hour, Carriacou was flattened.”
