Two New Orleans Escapees Caught After High Speed Chase in Walker County

Two of the escaped inmates from the New Orleans jail break earlier this May have been caught after a high speed chase in Walker County.

Police say Leo Tate and Jermaine Donald were spotted on Monday, ten days after they escaped from the Orleans Parish jail in New Orleans.

The two were finally stopped near U.S. 190 and Geneva.

Law enforcement officials say the men pulled off their escape by yanking open a faulty cell door, squeezing through a hole behind a toilet, and scaling a barbed-wire fence under the cover of darkness.

The Huntsville Police Department, along with several other agencies, tracked the men down and arrested them after a high-speed chase through Walker County.

Seven of the ten inmates that broke out are back behind bars. Three are still on the loose. Several other people have been arrested for helping the escaped prisoners.
