The Minnesota Vikings are reportedly signing free agent kicker John Parker Romo amid rookie Will Reichard's injury, sources with knowledge of the situation confirmed to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo and Tom Pelissero on Tuesday (November 5).
Romo was previously signed to the Vikings' practice squad during the offseason before being waived on July 29 and will make his season debut with Reichard expected to miss four games due to a quad injury.
"The #Vikings are signing free-agent K John Parker Romo, sources tell me and @TomPelissero. A former undrafted free agent with the #Saints, Romo was with Minnesota this offseason. Now set to make his NFL regular-season debut with the team," Garafolo wrote on his X account.
Romo went undrafted in 2022 and has only appeared on teams' offseason or practice squad rosters. The former Virginia Tech standout spent the 2023 season with the XFL's San Antonio Brahmas and was named to the All-XFL team.
Reichard made his first 14 field goals attempts of his rookie season before missing two during the Vikings' Sunday Night Football win against the Indianapolis Colts. The former Alabama standout was seen wearing a heating pad on his kicking leg while sitting on the sideline and had a noticeable limp on the field.
The Vikings also reportedly signed long snapper Jake McQuaide to replace an injured Andrew DePaola.
