Some say a Divorce Party is like a Really Fun Funeral!

But what do you think?
Good idea or bad taste?

Divorce and Family Attorney Lene Alley DeRudder says it matters: “When a divorce is finalized, people react one of two ways: 1) They’re elated and they want to run out and have their party 2) They’re sad. They’re mourning, they’re grieving --- it’s like a death!”

She says as long as you're celebrating new freedom and not how much you hate your ex...- go for it, but not if there are children in your family. “Get with your girlfriends, have a Spa Weekend, celebrate this new beginning outside the presence of your children --- but not the fact that their family just imploded!”

You could say a new industry is born with the inception of Divorce Parties!!! You can get the "End of an Error" supplies at Macy's, Walmart, Amazon and Party City among others - and DeRudder says as long as your kids are not involved and you're not just using it to rehash the bad times --- it's a good way to start a new chapter in your life. She does think, though, that it seems to be all-girl thing. “ I haven’t heard of men having Divorce Parties! I have heard of them getting together with friends and doing something!”  Unless, of course, it's one of those parties that the divorcing company throws jointly - complete with catering!

You can buy divorce party supplies everywhere from Macy's to Walmart...From Etsy to Party City!
