Back to dating can be scary - especially for someone over 50!

Houston Relationship psychotherapist Mary Jo Rapini says a lot has changed in the last years. "The way you first meet...How you show up...The concerns you have to be serious about....Is is safe?"

Rapini says apps will bring you a wider variety of people to meet - but be careful to be true to yourself. "You should never be afraid to walk away. Don't hang on and put up with people who are not going to change. You have to make good boundaries and know what you want!"

Rapini continues by saying, go for it! "It is VERY worth dating being over 50 - but I would make sure I knew what I wanted in a relationship and I was willing to do what I needed to do to be a good partner!" She says as long as you learn the rules for safe online dating - it's a good way to get back in the game. "Everybody is using a dating app! You have to use a dating app if you want a variety!"

• Don't be afraid to send the first message.
• Agree to meet at a nice, not too expensive, place for dinner/lunch.
  • Do not offer to pick her/him up.
  • Go Dutch!
