One dead after small plane crash in NW Harris County, powerline hit

One man is dead after a small plane crash in northwest Harris County late last night.

The pilot has been identified as Sherod Coleman. Authorities said he was doing circles around the West Houston Airport as he was landing, then he crashed into a powerline. Texas DPS did not release additional information about the crash.

The crash caused power outages in the area. The Texas Department of Public Safety is leading the crash investigation, and the Federal Aviation Administration will also look into the incident.
