According to the Austin Police Department, law enforcement evacuated the Texas Capitol this afternoon (4-16-2023) after an unknown person called in a bomb threat. A spokesperson for APD confirming the call and the actions taken. APD officers are working with Texas Department of Public Safety to search the building and grounds. Austin Police saying they're not sure the call was credible. Texas Tribune is saying the building will be open tomorrow (Monday, 4-17-2023). Lawmakers should be back in session then.
