It has been a horrible few days for the people of Galena Park. First, just 3 days ago on Thursday (2-16-2023) afternoon , 17 year old Marcos Orta, a Senior at Galena Park High School was in a parking lot of a community center and shot to death. The next day, investigators arrested 17-year-old Johnny Lewis for the murder and robbery.
Last night, (Friday, 2-19-2023) A man shot and killed 3 teen aged girls and then himself in a home in Galena Park. He was the boyfriend of the mother of the household. Of the girls whom he killed, one was 19 years old and pregnant.
HPD investigators have learned the man lived in the house with his girlfriend who was not at home at the time. neighbors interviewed by our TV partner Channel 2 said they liked him - he helped the family and seemed to be a good guy. HPD Detectives discovered he had been drinking all day and talked about his girlfriend talking to another man. Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzales saying that after he shot 3 teenage girls - he raped a 12 (or 13) year old girl who was there and then told her to run away. Gonzales, commenting that the young girl had the presence of mind to get the 1 year old infant who was also in the home before she left. She ran to a neighbor’s home and called police.
