Disillusioned by inflation this year? There are some bargains to be found, especially from the glut of toys at retailers like Walmart ,Target and Amazon. Toy Expert Steve Starobinsky says the reason dates back to last year. "There was a huge group of container ships that were super late delivering to goods for Christmas. A lot of the toys were high price-point that only arrived on the last days of last year." He says that past supply chain issues are part of the reason for the overstocking, and he predicts the last 10 days before Christmas will see discounts on the discounts!
Shopping for kids toys this year may be easier if you concentrate on those that are stuffing the shelves at Target and Walmart like a remote control truck, DC Comics figures and games like Jenga. Starobinsky is saying stores and Amazon are all giving deep discounts on items in their inventory. He says to look for more traditional toys to be greatly discounted. "Nerf everything will be heavily discounted. I think vehicles, play houses...lots of institutional brands that are going to have some problems selling through." He adds: "Old school brands will have to forfit profit to get sales this Christmas. These retailer will not hold over stock if they don't sell this stock by Christmas."
