After a high-speed chase near Midtown last night, Houston police discovered a 4-year-old boy inside a car that had been driven by an unnamed woman.
Police said the chase began after the suspect nearly hit an off-duty officer riding a motorcycle on the Katy Freeway near Taylor. The officer swerved to avoid being hit by the car which he estimated was going about 90 mph.
Police were able to stop the vehicle around 11:30 p.m. just off the Southwest Freeway.
The woman surrendered and was arrested, facing charges of felony evasion and driving while intoxicated.
The young boy was found asleep in the back seat of the car and appeared to be okay. Police said he was turned over a family member.
