Harris County finally finishes vote counting five hours past deadline

Harris County elections officials had promised to finish counting votes from Tuesday's primary election by last night's 7PM deadline.

They did not meet the deadline.

The vote count finally wrapped up a little after midnight this morning. This came This came after the Harris County Republican Party filed a petition Wednesday night over the ballot counting and called Tuesday’s election a “fiasco” and “complete failure.”

In fact, political science professor Brandon Rottinghaus told our TV partner Channel Two Harris County has never missed a deadline the way they missed this one. This followed issues in last year's election, the first under Elections Administrator Isabel Longoria.
