Constable Five Deputy Brutally Gunned Down: Manhunt Underway

A massive manhunt is underway in Houston. A Precinct Five Harris County Sheriff’s Deputy is killed in the line of duty Sunday morning while conducting a traffic stop on Beechnut near Beltway 8 in Southwest Houston.

“This needs to stop,” says Constable Ted Heap. “These are not assaults, these are not attacks, and these are brutal, brutal murders. This needs to stop.”

Corporal Charles Galloway has served with Precinct 5 for 12 years. Constable Heap says Galloway recently transferred to working the night shift so that during the day he could train and mentor new officers.

Galloway was working overnight shortly before 1 when the driver of a newer model white Toyota Avalon who had been stopped by police exited his vehicle with an assault-style weapon and fired several shots. Cpl. Gallaway died at the scene, according to Houston Police Chief Troy Finner. “The message to this suspect: the best thing you can do is turn yourself in, peacefully,” the police chief said at a press conference this morning.

The suspect fled the scene and is still on the run.
