The Left’s Hypocrisy Over The Filibuster Fight

You can see it for yourself on YouTube, two of the more impassioned speeches you will ever see on the importance of keeping the filibuster in the Senate.

Who gave the fiery pep talks? Joe Biden and Chuck Schumer.

"This nuclear option is ultimately an example of the arrogance of power" then Senator Biden said on the floor, "It is a fundamental power grab by the majority party, but the Senate is not meant to be a place of pure majoritarianism."

Chuck Schumer added, "They want, because they can't get their way, to change the rules in midstream, to wash away 200 years of history. They want to make this country into a banana republic, where if you don't get your way, you change the rules, are we going to let them?"

Hypocrisy from the left is not a surprise, it's the norm.

So can and will the Democrats actually do the unthinkable and destroy the filibuster so they can rig all future elections?

"The only way to do it, because they don't have the votes to do it in the honest, public traditional way" said Tom Jipping with the Heritage Foundation, "Is by kind of a sneaky, parliamentary gimmick, that is sometime known as 'the nuclear option'."

Basically, and even though the Senate is split 50-50, the Democrats want to be able to pass the John Lewis Voting Rights Act with Kamala Harris as the deciding vote. It makes sense, because they know that mail-in ballots would allow them to stay in power forever.

"To do that with a large senate majority would be bad" Jipping told KTRH, "But to do it with 50 votes, plus Kamala Harris to break the tie, would be the absolute worst thing that could happen to the United States Senate as an institution."

Will it actually happen? Jipping doesn't think so, because it's never happened before in the history of our nation. But these are different times, and these are different Democrats.
