Four injured in Baytown ExxonMobile fire

Officials at ExxonMobile's Baytown refinery say four workers were hurt as the result of a fire at the plant around 1 a.m. Thursday.

Although company officials say no explosion occurred, nearby residents of the facility on Decker Drive report being awakened by a jolt shortly after 1 o'clock.

Harris County Sheriff Sheriff Ed Gonzalez says the injured workers were transported to a hospital where they were last reported in stable condition.

All other employees are accounted for, according to the company, and operations continue at unaffected parts of the facility which employs around 7,000.

According to the Baytown Fire Department, the impacted unit processes material with gasoline components.

No air-quality issues have been reported.
