It's time to put those holiday cards in the mail as well as shipping boxes of presents.
Nikki Johnson of the Houston Postal Service says TODAY (12-15-2021) is the deadline for ground postal shipping for December 24 delivery. With constant rumblings of supply chain slow-downs in delivery, she says: "We continue to do the service that we tell the American People we will do. We see no delays in service this year." However, Johnson DOES say YOU may need more time to prepare:
"Our Priority Mail Service date for guaranteed delivery is December 18."
"The Priority Express Mail deadline is December 23rd."
Becky Bicilois of UPS says you can download the UPS app for free and enjoy some great tools like: "You can let your driver know exactly where you want your package left. Like, 'Hey! I'd like to have the package left on the side of the house - instead of on the front porch [where porch pirates can easily see it].' "
Biciolis' boxing advice:
- Use only a sturdy box and tape it shut well.
- Pad the contents well with bubble wrap, newsprint, or lots of tissue.
- Check to make sure there are no old labels or addresses on the outside of the box. Cover them up with a dark marker.
- Common sense - double check the address including zip code.
