It feels like 1980 again, probably because a lot of us wish it was! Is Joe Biden the new Jimmy Carter?
"The fact of the matter is that there are some similarities" said political historian Terry Madonna, "If you go through American history, the single most important problem incumbent president's have had seeking reelection, and that also goes for midterm elections, was the economy."
Right now the economy, along with the skyrocketing inflation, is at it's highest in almost 30 years! And experts warn we are not done yet.
A big part of the bad Biden economy has been gas prices, which was the knockout blow for Jimmy Carter. What makes it worse this time around is that less than 10 months ago under Donald Trump, the U.S. was energy independent for the first time in decades. Now, we are on the verge of $5 a gallon all because of the radical 'green new deal' and the climate change hoax.
As we saw earlier this month in Virginia, Republicans can let all of the Biden administration mistakes speak for themselves. The only thing missing this time around will be the great former president Ronald Reagan.
"I always like to talk about Ronald Reagan and his politics when he went into office" Madonna told KTRH, "The political environment really dominated the election in 1980, along with the recession that was underway. It's the economy that really makes a difference."
And it will again in 2022.
