Former Houston Police Chief Art Acevedo is now the former chief of the Miami police as well.
The Miami City Commission voted unanimously on Thursday evening to remove Acevedo from his position.
The City Manager had suspended Acevedo on Monday.
His termination came at the end of a five-hour hearing in which Noriega and three other city officials testified against Acevedo, who attended the hearing.
Acevedo was the head of the HPD from 2016 until March of this year, when he left for Miami.
