Texas Legislature Takes Hiatus

The capitol building in Austin is quiet for the Labor Day weekend.

The second special session of the Texas Legislature is adjourned late Thursday after passing more items on Governor Abbott's agenda, in addition to restoring its own funding.

The bill forbidding the teaching of critical race theory was passed.

Both chambers are expected to return to the Capitol soon for another special session, which will be focused on redistricting.

Abbott hasn't announced the date yet.
