Texas Lt. Governor Dan Patrick is working with officials at the University of Texas in Austin and republican donors to create Liberty Institute, a think-tank "dedicated to the study and teaching of individual liberty, limited government, private enterprise and free markets."
The state legislature has approved $6 million and the University is kicking in another $6 million.
The goal is to bring intellectual diversity to the campus.
