13 year New Orleans veteran Detective Everett Briscoe came to Houston for a brief rest. When dining with friends at Grotto on Westheimer, in the Galleria area, they were approached by 2 armed men demanding their property. The group complied, according to witnesses, but one of the armed men fired shots. One of the diners was shot and is in critical condition in a Houston hospital. Detective Briscoe was shot and killed.
HPD says the two suspects are still on the run. They have video surveillance photos of the two men and a shot of the vehicle in which they fled, a gray/silver Nissan Altima with paper plates. Police are looking for information that will lead to the identity of the pair and their arrests. That information brings $10,000 cash.
