Mission, Texas Declares Border Emergency Disaster Declaration

The City of Mission is joining other South Texas cities in issuing a disaster declaration related to the surge of migrants at the southern border.

The city issued the declaration on Thursday following an emergency meeting of the City Council.

Mission's mayor said the declaration would allow the city to use emergency resources to help support a temporary migrant shelter.

Hidalgo County and the cities of McAllen and Laredo also issued disaster declarations last week.
