Gas Prices in the Dog Days of Summer

Gas prices are up two cents in Houston as we go into the dog days of summer.

These are called the dog days because the sun is in the same region of the sky as Syrius, the brightest star visible on earth in the constellation Canis Major, the Dog star.

If you go for a starlit drive, know that one year ago gas cost a dollar less per gallon.

The national average is $3.19 a gallon, only $2.84 on average in Texas, and Houston $2.81.
