Customs officials are reporting the seizure of 15 live giant African snails earlier this month at Bush Intercontinental Airport.
A passenger arriving from Nigeria reportedly failed at first to disclose the snails in her luggage.
Customs agriculture specialists found the snails in three plastic bags and handed them over to the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
Giant African snails are both an agricultural pest and a health hazard, since they carry a parasitic disease.
