Six Flags Hurricane Harbor Splashtown, Located on I-45 North in Spring, remains closed so that local health and safety officials can investigate the cause of Saturday's (7-17-2021) chemical leak in the area of the 'kiddie pool.' About a 100 park guests were were taken through a decontamination process in order to be allowed out of the park.

Dozens were sent to local hospitals, and one pregnant woman went into labor. All have been released and are recovering. County Judge Lina Hidalgo said, "We're working together. Particularly the Harris County Fire Marshall's Office and the Harris County Public Health Department to insure that this facility is safe before it's open for operations again."

Parents were expressing their frustrations from getting so little information. One of the guests said, "I talked to some of the Life Guards at the park and they informed me that the chemicals were mixed incorrectly." The composition of the chemical that was leaked is thought to be a mixture of bleach and sulfuric acid.
