Some Texans Could Be Without Power By Weeks End

The Texas Public Utility Commission may end its "no disconnect" order as soon as Friday.

The order was put into place after the February winter storm and the resulting widespread power outages.

It was intended to keep utilities from being cut off for customers who fell behind on their payments.

Some residents say it's still too soon to end the order.

PUC Commissioner Will McAdams says the order should end on June 11th - that's Friday - because ratepayers have better resources available to help them with their unpaid bills.
