Victim's Family Asking Why Bond Is So Low

37 year old Crystal Reyes is charged with intoxication manslaughter and failure to stop and render aid in connection with the death of a bicyclist on Galveston Road near Ellington Field yesterday. The police say she nearly struck one of the officers as well. She posted $30,000 bond and the family of the victim is especially angry at that judgement. One MEMBER spoke with our TV partner Channel 2.

"This has been going on time and time again with these criminals. I don't think it's fair to the family who are left behind. And what about justice for him? She was released on such a small amount for bond."

The victim was 61-year-old Hector Saldarriaga who was training for a triathlon. He was a member of several Houston area cycling clubs. He leaves behind a wife and three children. Friends and family say he was riding the same route he had taken almost his whole life.
