The Era Of Big Government Is Here – Both Parties Disregard Conservatism

With all of the heavy political news we cover every day, we also like to have a little fun once in awhile.

So let's play a little game. Read the quote below, and guess who it was and their political affiliation.

"The era of big government is over."

Did you pick someone who is a staunch Republican? You are wrong.

That was Bill Clinton from back in the day. Unfortunately, the era of big government is not over. In fact, it's back and bigger than ever.

We've gone from 'One nation under God', to one nation under Democrats.

Political Historian Terry Madonna tells KTRH, simply put, it's because we are a nation divided.

"We've not had this kind of deep divisions between Democrats and Republicans, between conservatives and liberals, on a whole variety of issues. The deeply ingrained polarization exists."

Which is a far cry from a time when our political leaders put the American people first. Remember President Reagan? "Government is not the solution to our problem, government is the problem."

Madonna says that problem is the worst it's ever been. "We are deeply divided as a nation, and we are probably more divided as a nation than any time since we've had scientific polling."

And what about the future? "We have a long time to go to know how this all gets sorted out, and hopefully it will get sorted out in a way that moves the country forward."

We can only hope, and pray.
